The Amazon Jungle a Mystical Paradise
The Amazon jungle is a megadiverse territory that occupies almost half of the total area of Ecuador. This may seem like a lot for a small country that is also well-known for its Andean and coastal region, but the entire Amazon rainforest has an extension of more than 5 million km2, making it bigger than half of Europe!
This huge portion of lush and colorful rainforest is home to about 400 Amazon tribes, at least ten of which live in Ecuadorian territory; there are supposed to be even more which remain uncontacted.
This huge portion of lush and colorful rainforest is home to about 400 Amazon tribes, at least ten of which live in Ecuadorian territory; there are supposed to be even more which remain uncontacted. Around these ancestral territories, many cities and villages have been built by settlers who migrated decades ago from different parts of the country. From the Amazon natives, they learned how to cope with the jungle’s unconventional life conditions, such as the high moisture of the rainforest weather, the special features of the soil, and the risks of living amongst the mysterious Amazon wildlife. Once the region was settled, tourism in the Ecuadorian rainforest began to bloom. It currently is one of our most precious destinations.
The Amazon Adventure
Having an Amazon adventure is the opportunity of a lifetime, and something you will never forget. The rainforest in Ecuador is spread across six different provinces, each of which has a special attraction to offer: like a snowy peak standing out in the middle of the jungle at Sangay National Park, or the hidden rivers populated by the mythical pink dolphins of the Cuyabeno Reserve, and of course, the well-known Yasuni National Park.
To get to these remote locations, you need to book a tour with professionals that know their way around the jungle, and that have good and respectful relationships with the Amazon rainforest people.
